Letters To Cleo in LA
Hello there. One of the many contradictions when dealing with a fascinating and complex creature such as me (myself? what?) is that while I love regaling all 17 of you with tales of my shenanigans, I am also a horrible self promoter. Which is why there are only 17 of you. This inconsistency in my personality also explains why I have failed to mention that my old band Letters To Cleo is playing a handful of dates this year to commemorate our former awesome-ness.
First up: We will be playing at The Roxy in LA this Saturday night, November 8th at umm…night. Yes, it’s definitely at night. The very, very excellent band The Oohlas open. Let’s go drink some drinks and rock out, shall we?

When I saw your Tweet about rehearsing, I had this enormous sniffly heartswell…. first, we elect Barack Obama, and now Letters to Cleo is rehearsing again? OH GLORIOUS AMERICA, YOU ARE BACK ON TRACK.
I’m sending a proxy to scream until he sounds like a dog whistle. (It’s what I’d do.)

Former awesome-ness. (hahaha yeah right, Like anyone will believe that!)
The only one who is allowed to use the word “former” as of today is Scott.
And we understand his reasons, and are happy for him !
He still looks kewl floating in his pool on his myspace page
The fist step in self promotion is to be truthful !
So just tell it as it is….

November 10th, 2008 at 1:25 am
hey Kay!
yeah i must be one of the 17 people too!
i’m from the UK and have been following your career since i saw you with LTC back in the early 90s. saw a couple of gigs over in london.
would so love to be able to see you play solo, or even get to the LTC shows, but i can’t, seeing as i’m nowhere near the US!!!
perhaps you could arrange a little solo show when you are next over here with Miley?
keep up the good work, love reading about your shenanigans!
November 10th, 2008 at 9:28 am
So how was the LTC show? I so enjoy your website, wit, and tweets!
November 11th, 2008 at 12:05 pm
The LA show ROCKED!
My life is a little bit more complete now, since LTC has been my favorite band for many years now, and I had thought I would never get to see you guys.
Thanks so much for doing this.
And I would fly to Boston/NY if I didn’t have finals right around then. (As it is we drove from the bay area to LA just to see the show)
November 12th, 2008 at 4:49 pm
YES!!!! You’re playing in Boston! I will have to get tix to that!
November 18th, 2008 at 6:28 am
OMG, I can’t believe this.
Hope it went great!! Sadly, I live in Chile. I have all of your albums, I’m a huge fan.
One day I’ll go to one of your shows… that’s a deal! Good luck!!
November 18th, 2008 at 7:59 am
Alas, this poor teacher in Tennessee couldn’t quite make it. But as a loooong time listener and one-time live witness, I’m sure I missed one helluva show. You rock, as do your former bandmates. WEAPONIZE is still on heavy rotation, so you might not be a great promoter, but you still manage to crank out some quality sounds.
I hope it was as much fun for you and the others as it was for the fans. (And since I’m Comment #23, it looks like you’re waaaay off on the number of readers! Tpphtt!)
November 18th, 2008 at 11:29 am
I’ll be at 12/9 show at the Paradise. Can you PLEEEEEEEEASE play Pete Beat?????? Practice, practice, practice!!!! Courtney and I are excited to see you!
November 25th, 2008 at 4:41 am
Last time I saw LtC was at the Rat, I was a single college student and the phrases ‘all-nighters’ and ‘empty bottles’ had nothing to do with feeding babies. Now, three kids and a mortgage later, I get to see the band live once again. So cool. I’m rounding up some of the old gang for one of the Boston shows… can’t wait! (BTW - ‘Weaponize’ = amazing.)
November 30th, 2008 at 9:38 am
Anyone know if the band is planning to record either (or both) of these shows and release some live music for those of us who cant make these shows?
December 12th, 2008 at 3:58 pm
Hey, just dropped a comment to say that I was at the New York show, and it was fantastic! I just wanted to say that. I’ve been a fan for a long time and it was great to catch you all again. (plus I managed to pick up weaponize and am really enjoying it.)
Also, this blog is really interesting and thoughtful, I’ll definitely be checking it out from now on.
